COOL CAN FOR INNER COOLER
MY BUDDY HAD A THOUGHT ABOUT GETTING THE WATER COLDER THOUGH THE INNER COOLER...FOR RACE CARS THEY PUT A INSULATED CAN WITH COILED ALUMINUM HARDLINE AND FILL IT WITH ICE.. KINDA LIKE A JOCKEY BOX FOR BEER... ANYWAY THIS WOULD REALLY MAKE THE WATER COLDER I THINK, AND MOUNT IT UP FRONT WHERE THE STORAGE IS. MY QUESTIONS MAYBE WOULD BE:
WOULD THIS EFFECT THE INNER COOLER IN ANYWAY?
WOULD THE JET PUMP FLOW THE WATER FAST ENOUGH THRU THIS COOL CAN? BECAUSE IT WOULD BE AT LEAST TWICE AS LONG TO TRAVEL THRU.
JUST THOUGHT I'D ASK SOME HI PREF DUDES FRIST.

I don't know anyone that has tried it yet, but in theory it should work wonders. It may even last as long as 30 minutes to an hour.

There are guys in drag racing that use dry ice cannisters which last longer and is a LOT colder. I have thought about this before, it should work great if the proper container could be made. The gains would be a lot greater with a belt driven supercharger that you could do a pulley swap on and raise the boost! Jerry, you need to work on this before the next Mudbugs!

it does work thats a fact ....ive done this on several different cars... i have even done some dyno testing ...on a supercharged 505 bigblock chevy i saw hp go up almost 35 hp just by adding a cool can with ice in it and the ice does last along time if you wrap cork around the outside of the can...these are easily made with a coffee can and some aluminum tubing

I've seen a efi drag race car out here who runs a Pro-Charger. He has a cool can in the trunk that gets iced down and water is pumped through the intercooler. With the pump forcing the water, there would be no need for any plumbing, just longer hoses to wherever its mounted. Its extra weight and wouldn't benefit much on endurance runs, but closed course and speed runs would get an extra kick.
