Clutch Problem, maybe?
While riding today, my ski just totally lost power...if its revved over around 3k RPMs it makes a really loud grinding noise. So because of this I wasnt able to go over 5mph to get back to the dock-which ended up being about 45 mins of riding...
At first we thought there might have been something caught in the intake grate area, but I looked and saw nothing. So then I thought it might have lost the SC Clutch, but after reading on here, most have lost their power about 6k and can still ride about 50mph...
Its still under warranty, so I'll be taking it in monday, but was wanting some ideas so I wont be screwed over from the dealership.

Sounds like you may just have something caught in your pump. I had a small stick caught in my prop an it acted like my ski was coming apart when I tried going over about 5 MPH. I couldn't believe a stick that small was causing the problem but thats all it was.I had to pull the pump to find it it was so small.

Look for a stick or a rock wedged between your prop blades and the wear ring. Almost certain this is your problem.

definitey an itty bitty rock or twig or wood chip stuck in your impeller.... has happened to us all at some point. get a LONGGGGGG screw driver, flash light, and get under the ski and poke around... trust me, there's something in there no doubt.
after you've explorer it thoroughly and either found something or not... start the ski out of the water and give it a quick nice rev.... it may rip apart and blow whatever is left out of there...
then go to the water and see if it works! saves a trip to the dealer for sure bc this is undoubtedly your problem.

Thanks for the input guys...I looked yesterday for any debris but never saw a thing, but I'll look again tomorrow before I go to work. Also if I need to pull the pump, how would I go about doing that?

Jay, more than likely you will need to replace your wear ring now.

Jay, like Shibby said, we have all had that happen. If it was just a small piece of wood, your prop should be ok. But you will probably need to replace that wear ring. You can run the ski while you wait on a new prop, but you will lose holeshot. Top end should still be close to normal.
