There is a dealer in Mckinney which is just 13 miles away. They do indicate that they do PWC repairs so that will probably be where we go. Does Polaris have an electronic database or do I need to check with "the" dealer that did any of the servicing? The Honda thread has a thread in which the owners post the hours they have on their machines. The Hondas can have hundreds and in some cases over a 1000 hours before some need any rebuilding. What have you all seen from the 110 or 150 engines as far as hours? It does appear that most of the wastegate issues are salt water rider related. The Honda F12x has the exact same problem if ridden in salt water and proper cleaning and maintenance is not done.

Yes, there is a central Service database that all Polaris dealers are connected into.
Each PWC unit is tracked by HIN number, and each service bulletin and service performed is tracked by HIN number.
The same database includes info on the current owner, so you should have the dealer update it with the new owner's name and address, so that Polaris can contact him should a recall or such occur in the future.

7800 is max, at which time the rev limiter kicks in.
4800 is max when overboost is detected (stuck wastegate usually).
5800 is max when the ETB sensors don't match (there are 2 sensors, that constantly check each other).
1800 is max, in the event of overheat.
All of the above (except the rev limiter) will be accompanied by the 'check engine' light.

Just good to know what PWC resources are available, and from who
Can I add you to this listing?

I just spent the evening reading the entire Polaris MSX section and learned a TON! Thank you so much for the offer Jay to run the HIN. I have asked the seller for them. Hopefully he will get me them and I can PM them to you. I have one of the numbers on the side (is that the HIN?) as TX7046KB. He and his family are on a trip this week so we agreed on a price and next Sunday (week from Easter) my buddy and I are heading out to his lake house to inspect and ride the skis and hopefully close the deal, price is agreed upon. I have a whole list of things I will be looking for. The one thing I was unable to figure out is, "how do I know if the oil level was previously filled to high and overflowed potentially causing future sensor/intercooler issues?"

The HIN number is found on a metal plate riveted to the back deck of the hull. It will begin with PLE followed by some numbers with one letter mixed in.
The Service Manual describes the HIN location and coding in detail, somewhere in first few pages.
A second copy of the same HIN plate can be found glued inside the hull. Location varies, but is often tucked inside the front compartment, up near the bond line, or in the engine compartment. Both HIN plates should be present, and of course have the same number
There have been a few threads in the past discussing the oil contamination problem caused by excess oil level in the Weber oil resevoir. I am not sure how much you would have to pull apart to confirm there has never been oil contamination

Shoot, OK that number will have to wait until he sends it or we head out to see them next week. Gotta' say, this thread is better than the Honda thread for responsiveness and useful information. I did find a nice little comparison and write up at this link.
