The Air Force doing this is much more understandable...but the Marines?

The Marines Go Compact – USMC Begin Issuing MHS M18

The US Marine Corps has confirmed to TFB that the Corps will be procuring only the M18 compact variant of the Modular Handgun System.

Back in March 2018, the USMC confirmed that they would be procuring the SIG Sauer Modular Handgun System and while it was stated that 35,000 MHS pistols would be purchased they did not stipulate which of the two pistols they would be issuing. The Marine Corps followed the USAF, who also recently began fielding the new M18.

Not sure why they went with the compact model for any branch. Seems to me the carry model would have been a more appropriate option for a duty pistol carried OWB.

Yeah giving up sight radius and velocity on a combat pistol is a totally logical plan.

What I meant was for branches where a more compact pistol makes sense, like the AF, the carry model would have been better. Same length barrel as the compact but uses the full size mags. Kinda has me scratching my head why the marines would opt for a smaller pistol.

Don't care for the pistol either way and I think the .gov made an expensive mistake choosing it over better options.

No, what don't you like about it? I saw your comment about the CZ you ordered for a customer a few pages back. You running a gun store these days? Reason I ask is I'm curious if you've seen many 320's come in for mechanical issues?

Nice! You are going to love it. I have the Phantom and it's one of the smoothest, easiest shooting pistols I have.

I got the slide and small parts done in black chrome to kinda go with the phantom name. lol

I think they should have stayed with the Beretta M9 platform and adopted the M9A3 offering. Parts/mags and soldier/armorer training for the most part would be a non issue as well. Oh well. lol
