A divided federal appeals court on Thursday struck down California's concealed weapons rules, saying they violate the Second Amendment right to bear arms. By a 2-1 vote, the three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said California was wrong to require applicants to show good cause to receive a permit to carry a concealed weapon.
"The right to bear arms includes the right to carry an operable firearm outside the home for the lawful purpose of self-defense," Judge Diarmuid O'Scannlain wrote for the majority.

Wow. That looks like a monster. 2300 ft/sec at 200gr is spectacular!

-how's the recoil and how much $$ / rnd ?
Haven't got it to the range yet as I just picked it up but I have the 10.5 460PC too and it's pretty controllable so this shouldn't be too bad. I get the Hornady 200gr for around $1/round in bulk.

Fingers crossed that S&W releases a Shield in .45, not only do the cheese grater grips on the XD-S suck but I refuse to buy a non-1911 with a grip safety.

I like my XDs-45, and have no issues with grip safety. Great for CCW.

    To each his own

I bought one of the Xd's when they first came out. I got a great deal on it and sold it when they were hot. Never even fired it. Could not resist the cash

Why? If your not gripping it, how can you hit what your shooting at! Grip safety is not a issue for most.

Love my post recall XD-s. it takes about 3 months to get it back from Springfield, but they send you a new small case and a 7 round extended mag for the wait. I have put about 200 rounds of reloads through it without one failure and am getting very comfortable with it. It packs a wallop but the key is to have a firm grip and you can shoot all day with it. Anything less and it will jump out of your hand. Im getting fairly accurate out to 25 yards with it too. what's the saying? .45acp will drop 9 out of 10 bad guys on reputation alone.
Here's a pic of our equipment from Sunday, 2 - 7.62's and my M4 budget build. First shot was a misfire but the next 49 shots went flawlessly. It's definitly not my SHTF rifle but would make a decent light weight backup. Shot my buddies Glock 10mm for the first time. almost as much recoil as a 45 but apparently those rounds can go through concrete. Too expensive to shoot for me though.

Just my personal opinion but I don't want a grip safety or any external safety on a striker fired pistol. Plus I'm not a fan of the XD models anyway, prefer the M&P and Glocks. I really don't like the concept of grip safeties on any gun but I can live with them on the 1911... see below:
