all this talk about sc ?
so let me ask this question, and maybe no one knows this answer, but I thought I'd give it a try, say your out riding and all of a sudden you go from 7900 rpm to 5600 rpm and you know it's your sc clutch, if you shut it down real quick, get towed back to shore, will it be cheaper to fix because you did not keep the engine running and messed up less parts, or it does not matter?

It depends on if the ceramic washer dropped off the shaft. There is no way of knowing until you pull the SC. I recommend shutting it down and get towed in.

If the ceramic washer disintergrated in the clutch failure, the longer you run the engine the greater the risk of the fragments causing some type of damage. Why risk it...if a tow is available go for it.
