    Riva seat covers

Both seat foams are 2.5 years old. One had a riva cover installed when new, the other did not and kept the factory seat cover.
Guess which one? Ever wonder why your seat with the riva cover is so much heavier? Its full of water from a seat cover that is not waterproof, the foam gets wet, stays wet, and black rot develops on the foam.
Dry foam pad weighs approx 3 lbs, wet one weighs in at around 18. Not really something a hi performance guy wants, added weight and black rot..
If your going to use a Riva seat cover, you better wrap the foam pad in some sort of plastic to keep it dry to prevent this from happening.

Anytime I ever put a cover on my seadoos, I put it over top of the stock cover. I did the same on my last GPR.

I agree, but that is only possible if you have a good stock cover on your seat to start with.
One would think that i hi performance seat cover would at least have the same qualities of a lesser OEM seat cover, but not the case..

If they were a one piece cover like OEM, they would be waterproof. But since they are stitched on every seam and color change, they are not water tight at all.

I think Hydroturf tells you to install it overtop of the OEM one as well.

I guess you need to put a GLAD bag over the next POS you cover.

Maybe Riva tells you that AFTER you buy the cover and get installation instructions, but this is all they tell you on their website before you buy it..

(The ultimate racing and recreation covers for your Yamaha Watercraft. These covers are hand made in the USA with the finest materials including Ballistic Nylons, Ultra-Grade Marine Vinyl, plus Jettrim's exclusive Nada-Hyde, Non-Slip Traction Material. Available in a variety of colors to match your watercraft's paint and graphics scheme.)

Jettrims site is more informative. Its the first thing they tell you on the install instructions on their site.

    (1. Leave stock cover to insure dryness)

My cover was installed by the previous owner, even though i would have probably done it the same way he did, especially if the old cover was damaged..
