Lost ANOTHER clutch today!
Well, 12 foot lbs was too much (previous clutch) So i rebuilt it with only 10 ft lbs and it took a shit today! Lost the disk completely off the shaft.
This is getting ridiculous!

Well, I rebuilt mine at 7.5 foot pounds. We'll see how long it lasts. Although mine is the stock assembly, I really think less is best even with the HD assemblies.

That sucks, so what do you have to replace? Just the ceramic discs or more?

Well, once you drop the ceramic disk in the engine the metal flat nut grinds into the gear. You replace the ceramic, gear and flat nut as a set.
I kinda rigged something up to get me thru the big weekend though. Hopefully it will hold up

Jerry, did you have the RR SC heavy duty set up, or shims, or what? How will I know when mine goes, or not.

Yes, i had the RR heavy duty clutch/shaft kit. This is the second time it's grenaded a ceramic washer. I had too much tension on it. About 10 newton meters, or 8 ft. lbs seems to be the ticket.
You will know when your clutch goes out as your RPM's will drop to around 6400.

AHH the magic 6400 how I dred to see thee...So now what Jerry?? going to tear it apart again??? MAN DOES THAT SUCK!!!! WHAT CAN WE DO??? Something must be going on here..I got 80 + hrs on mine last year and not one failure...Now after I tear into my motor to do a few slight upgrades I get a loss @ 5 hrs...Kind of makes me wonder if I should even bother to re build it until we get a serious fix...Before I end up doing some serious damage!! Right now it will take me about a day to pull the motor...Clean it out and re-install it...
