Why would you want to do that? Just fill those holes in!

Heat exchanger
I just took almost 1/8'' off the front of mine to match the intake grate and did not go thru.

I would be very cautious of how much material you take off. The ride plate encounters extreme forces. It nearly has to support the weight of the whole ski when at speed, not to mention the pressure incurred holding the ski on plane.

Find/buy one, and cut the thing down the center..............
Quarter it if need be...........
No more guessing then
As a side note:
I just priced a stock water box from my dealer today. He offered it to me at his COST,so he could see just what I was going to do to it

Jerry, setting the rideplate back further has crossed my mind too . I was thinking maybe 1/4 of an inch. have you tried shimming the rear of the ride plate down. I did that on my gsx around 3 years ago(I think I ended up at around 30 thousandth) and it made a big difference.because of the heat exhanger, any of these tests are going to be a pain.

You are right Mike. Rideplate modifications are not going to be easy.
I'm going to start with a 2" extension and then cut it down from there if need be.
I'll let you know how it turns out.
