How to repair pump shoe inserts for intake grate...
obviously removing the pump shoe is a nightmare i wish to avoid.... my inserts pulled out, but it was a clean pull and there's no damage to anything. is there a way to put them back in there permanantly? will epoxy work, or is this just "buying time" until they yank out again?
it's a damn near miracle that the single bolt on the front of the intake grate was able to hold it on there for about an hour while i was romping on the ski trying to squeeze every ounce of RPM and speed out of it.... would have thought the front bolt would have snapped and i woulda lost the grate, phewLast edited by Shibby1485; 07-16-2006 at 12:23 AM.

thanks Ray.... i'm going to go along with that exact idea as in my mind i was thinking some kind of epoxy that went over the brass tops would help secure them in.... marine tex huh? someone else told me the same thing today, i guess i'll go to the store later and pick some of that up and do what you did since you've had good luck with it.
thanks.

Knurle(?) the inserts with a dremel tool... and the holes and use JB weld.

I used gorilla glue on 2 inserts. 1 year later and no problems. I even had one of the insert holes crack when I was originally removing the bolt.

It's like the grippy end of a rachet... a profile to adhere to? The same on the interior surface of the shoe...
