rough idle
Just installed Rivas power filter and noticed on the trailer the idle seems a little rough ..It jumps between 1720 to 1840 rpm..Also pulled the plugs notices some oil on #2 and 3 cylinders. Havent had it in the water yet but was woundering if anybody else idles rough..or if i need to look at some thing else
Thanks

how many hours are on your machine? Might be time for some new plugs, most of us are running denso's IXU27's.

PPG sells an extension to put the breather in the black tube in front of the seat, this will help with heat fade. The motor really likes outside air. The sensor in the waterbox has a good deal to do with idle. Some people take it out and tie it to the water hose, don't forget to plug the hole that was left.

If i pull this sensor out what effect will it have on the ski???Will It be reading way lower or higher temps than it should be ??
Will This cause the computer to read something is wrong with the ski??Last edited by Snoman; 07-10-2006 at 02:52 PM.

its just an exhaust temperature sensor. Most of us just zip tie the sensor onto the rubber hose going to the coolant tank. All it needs is a constant source of heat to function properly and that hose fits the bill.
The reason we move the sensor is because if it registers hot the ECU will richen up the A/F considerably deteriorating performance and could affect idle quality as well.

Where is this sensor located on the factory air box? I didn't notice it when I installed my 4" intake. Might be why my engine fluctuates about a 100 rpms at idle. Plugs pretty much cured my problem though.

Yep,,Same thing here Cody my RPMs Fluctuate about a 100 rpm while idleing. Jerry you just zip tie to the coolant hose and let it hang there???Thats it besides pluging the hole in the water box.sounds pretty simple.could this help the 100 rpm fluctuation during idle or is this something common in the RXP???
Thanks

Snoman, it may help it, but you cant really go by your idle on the trailer. Get it in the water and then see how it idles.
