In water Dyno?????
So i was having a couple beers last nite and i was looking at my RXP-x and was wondering, you can dyno-tune a car, but how could you dyno a ski, yes i know how a dyno works etc...
but was wondering if there is some type of machine that could actually see how much power you are putting down at the nozzle, and not measure the power in thrust but HP.
How do i know my ski is making 255 horse and its not just a scam????
idk maybe this is a stupid question, but i was just curious

There are som dyno's made that attach to the pump of the ski. The HP rating is at the crankshaft, not at the pump if Im not mistaken.

This dyno replaces the pump nozzle housing, it doesn't measure thrust, it hooks up to the shaft... It only costs 5 grand

Im wondering if theres something that just hooks up to the nozzle not the shaft and givesr eadings based on the amount of water it moves, like a real world setting, not a machine that hooks to a shaft

I see what you mean.. kinda how like a car has less HP at the wheels than when the engine is dynoed by itself.. But idk how they measure thrust. I believe it's not measured but calculated. I guess you could always tie a rope to your ski, and connect it to one of those giant scales used for weighing shark and tuna.. Then nail it and see how many lbs. the scale is reading..
But thrust is calculated, at least for planes it is..

yea but still, there has to be some difinitive way out there, how does seadoo- or yamaha - or honda etc.. find out there horsepower? Just get readings from the crank?
idk im just tossing idea's around

The 255hp is most likely directly from the motor not from the pump.
