1996 SL700 Starting Problem
Here's my problem. I replaced the electrical box on my ski. Before I changed it the ski would crank but not start (no spark). I open the box and everything was severly corroded and fell apart. I put a new board in and connected all the wires to the color coded displays on the board. Now I have nothing when I hit the start button. I can cross the terminals with a screwdrive and the ski will crank. I probably have a wire connected wrong. I've gone through the technical book and this board looking for information. As far as I can tell I've got everything connected correctly. Are there any wires that are color coded that do not connect to their corresponding colors on the board. I figure this is probably the problem. I also have a 1996 slx780 and have tried duplicating the wiring from that but still no luck. Any ideas. I am in the Dallas (Corinth area). My cell is 469-682-9373 if you want to call and discuss it. Thanks.

Perhaps you could post a few clear photos of your board connections. We might be able to spot the problem.
Have you used an ohm-meter to confirm that the black/ground wires are in fact all connected to battery negative?

Make sure you have 12v to the start button(red/purple wire, power supplied from the circuit breaker located in elec box)
When the button is pushed, you should have 12v on the yellow/red wire from button to solenoid. Wiring diabram is in on line service manual.

Here are some pictures of the box. There is a ground that goes between the boxes and connects them together.

Last ones. My slx780 has a red/purple wire running to the fuse on the bottom but I don't have a spare wire to put there.

I see a R/W wire going to the R/PUR. That might be grounding out the system. The R/W is for the Fuel Gauge.

I tried removing that and nothing. The wire was hooked up there on my 780 so I was following that one.

What is the deal with the yellows spliced to the blacks?

The yellow wire was not long enough and all i had was black wire so I created a longer wire by splicing in the black wire. the wire is connected to a yellow terminal
