Thermostat Kit
What performance details are you getting with the Thermostat kit upgrade? Should this be considered a priority for a mod?

I curious about this as well. What excatly does the mod do or help with.
I've seen posts on how to do the mod, I'm just not sure how it helps.

The water in your engine will run cooler resulting in better performance.
I cant say if helped my ski cause installed in winter. I think anyway for us to help keep temps down in summer is a plus. I would say that a heavily moded ski might benifit more than a stock ski.
Some say on hear helps with heat fade also, and i think is the case.Last edited by skoepp; 07-07-2008 at 09:33 PM.

I would assume by lowering the engine operating temperature, you reduce the risk for detonation especially if there are additional mods done to the motor. Such things like increased boost, produces more heat. Well, external intercoolers help remove the heat from the compressed intake air and lower engine temps from the thermostat help also.

It helps with heat fade. you will not lose that 100-150 rpm after your engine gets nice and hot.

I would have to agree with that statement. My RXP will only loose 50 rpm different from cold to hot motor. I think use to loose like 100 to 150 rpm stock.
Funny thing is the T-X might see 20 rpm different from cold to hot and that is a maybe. I have the 158 thermo for it but have not installed it.
Anyone know if the 08 X,s have the same thermo as the 07 and older?

let's not forget the coolant temp vs. fuel enrichment tables in the ecu. Cooler coolant and air inlet temps allow for more injector pulse-width that should compliment all mods, esp. those dealing in unrestricted cool air intake

So...for a moderatly modded ski (as in my signature) I should benefit. Should I consider the XS IC ebfore the thermo, or vise-versa?
