OPAS block off for x
im wanting to put opas blockoffs on the x boats. its down to the race engineering ones or the riva pro series ones which look exactly the same.
Whats the difference because the price is the same??

RE blockoffs are not the same, they are longer... Meaning that the RE's actually extend the hull longer then the RIVA pro block offs do. It used to be that the RIVA's were race legal but If I'm not mistaken the RE's are race legal now also.

Thanks KP04rxp
looks like more $$$ to spend.
does NOPAS really improve handling that much?? as in noticable straight away?

Be aware, on the RE's there seems to be a bit of quality issue. My left one doesnt line up properly with the hull and has to be redrilled. There are others that have had this problem...
I will say the set for RXT went on fine and made a difference in the ride.

I might be in the minority but I wish I left the OPAS on.
My x seems to track straight better but turning I feel is drastically worse since I added the re's

Elimanating the opas defintely helpe the ski track straighter at speed- but in the transition zone- bewteen plane and off plane- and at just about every speed but pinned, the my opas equiped skis definitely turned harder.
I ride offshore and in wind chop mostly- so I prefer it w/o opas...but I did notice a big difference in handling characteristics- though in just the first ride adapted to it and liked it better immediately- especially on the S1 RXTX.

Yes......................................... The only reason I could think of to get rid of the opas is porposing............................and the X does NOT porpuse.
If it's not better than stock why spend the money???? I wish you could ride mineIt's handling is nothing short of amazing! Thanks to Highpower Hightower (RXP STAN) It didn't take much to get it perfect. S-D did there homework on the X

From the RE's I have seen installed, they have to be re-drilled. The ones I saw installed had a huge gap between the hull and where the RE's start.

My rxp tracks great at higher speeds but In the transitional speeds like stated the rear of the ski does feel a bit wishy washy... nothing to be scared of but is noticeable.
As for what jawz says... I know the x doesn't porpoise like the rxp's do.... I'm still trying to figure out why sometimes I porpoise much worse then others... Fresh water differs reactions then salt water...etc.
beachbum rides an x and even with me having a bit of higher speed then him at times, he manages to take me every time.... One of these days I'm either going to learn how to ride or figure out why my ski still porpoises sometimes...... bb also has the re's, whether or not he needs him is another question.
As for quality I know both sets of re's that we installed went on with ease, lined up just right with no drilling or trimming necessary.
