I have an idea for my XP.
Ok, I think I might want to make my X-4 into a 4-tec conversion. I know the 4-tech is heavy, its too big, and the hull isn't stable enough, but who cares, I want fuel injection and speed too.
Can one of you conversion gurus give me the external dimensions of the 215 4-tec?

There were a couple of 80mph X4's setup and they were very, very spooky. Another option would be to contact Randy at watcon.com
He has a 1000cc engine that might fit your bill. He says it's wide.

Now I'd go for that.
That makes more sense for that hull.

not sure about the x4 hull but just for fun we sat the 4tec longblock into a 91 SP hull.
the block/head WITHOUT the intake or exhaust barely fit in there.
So you would definately have to bubble the sides.
BUT i think that would be the hardest part.
you could probbly use all the stock 4tec driveline components. not sure if you got the same trasom plate as the 98 xp but i know the 160mm 4tec pump will plug right onto the 155mm transom plate. even the steering/rev/trim line up. change your threw berring out for the "crappy" carbon seal, and get you a 4 tec driveshaft.
Sounds like a awsome project.
I say DOO-IT

I had 93 SPX along with the XP if there is a measurement difference it is small. I know the pump is different between the 96 XP and 98 XPL mine has a 140mm pump, but I did see a 951 conversion where the guy mated 155mmXPL pump to it.
I was also thinking that a 155 NA 4-tec could save some weight and plumbing(like external I/C). There's still some things that can be done with that motor. Porting the heads, a hotter cam(I remember hearing about 187 hp GTI kit somewhere), Hydrojunkie's headers.
After all look what 130 hp does for the x-4 with the 951 conversions

What about a X4 or GSX hull with a GPR motor?
