opinion needed on hull damage on new fx-sho
Hello all,
Im looking for input on hull damage. I have a bran new fx-sho that just hit 10 hrs. Apon hull inspection i noticed nickle and quarter size flakes missing from the hull near the intake grate to the impeller. I noticed there are imperfections all around the area and even spoted what seems to be a airbubble formed under the clear coat. I think there must of been something on the hull when they painted and clear coated it. I called the dealer today to make an impointment to have it inspected. I got the impression that they were just going to patch it and send me on my way. I have no experience with boat hulls or hull repair. If they patch it is this a sound fix? Any info or opinion on the matter would be greatly appreacited.
Thanks...Last edited by amadus98; 06-18-2008 at 03:46 PM.

can you post a photo of the blister please, my project boat had osmosis and had to be re painted due to the amount of them...
i doubt its osmosis on a new boat but if it is the paint needs to come off and the hull has to be dried out 100% and over a long period of time to allow any water thats soaked into the hull evaporate before it can be repainted or it will re appear in a short period of time and lift the paint again in small water filled bubbles...

If a craft that new is getting Osmotic Blistering, something is very wrong!

Here is the best pic i came up with. I did not run over anything. There are no scratches or gouge marks. Hard to see in the pic but there are soft spots under the gelcoat. like air bubbles. Other spots are like theres sum kind of dirt particls under the coat. u can feel it as well as see it.
