Flat filter w/ filtered intake ports
Here's a do not!
I have the Flat filters installed. I decided to throw a filter on one of the intake ports where I had removed the recirc hoses which I had previously capped.
The pictures show clearly blue stains on the clear intake drain from both skis. Blue is the filter oil color.
I was wave jumping this weekend and must have been ingesting water from the intake filter on the port on the intake box. I was actually waiting for a few more to filters the second port. Anyway, thanks to the OCMS valve, found the lovely oil/ water mix you see below in the bag. Needless to say, it's not a good idea to leave those ports open, even filtered if you do any rough or ocean riding. I might not have even noticed had it not been for the OCMS drain valve.Last edited by ph2ocraft; 07-15-2008 at 09:53 PM.

Glad you found it. I will remember that when in rough ocean water. Maybe I will just make a block off or shield to keep the water away

So you are saying
to cap that airbox port where you took off the hose that goes to the
vacuum relief valve? Know where you could get those caps?
I haven't been able to find one of those 1.5" KN filters for the relief
valve. Isn't it blowing out when activated?? Would it be big deal
not to have any one on it??

Jason, thanks for your help! I was thinking about a shield too. It's just from water getting through the flat filter and being sucked right in to the intake through that filter as it drips down.
trials and tribulations...It's all good learning and sharing here!
ES, thanks for your help also!

Yikes, I knew those flat filters are gonna be trouble. I put mine on.. not to long ago and noticed that alot of water dripping from there. I do have those inlets capped off tho.
I'm actually running UMI steering with the Riva plastic cover Renthal ATV bars anyways water still makes its way to the flat filter.
