Stainless Steel Wear Ring Perfect
Not sure of how many you guys out there have this, but Bruce knows his stuff. I got my SS Wear Ring on Wednesday and just put it in tonight with my repitched Solas from PPG and the fit and looks are incredible. I am sure the reliability and performance will match. It slid right in with no problem at all. From the looks of my plastic wear ring that I removed, this will be one of the best investments I have made. Anyone who needs to contact Bruce at Xtreme Jetsports, his number is (504) 281-0313.

I just installed mine tonight and was also impressed with how tight the tolerances are on the Bruce SS wear ring / PPG Solas setup.
Oh Frank and Jerry, I figured out where my holeshot went. My Solas nose cone was banging against my hull where the drive shaft goes into the hullI bit the bullet and put some blue loctite on it this time. I figure if nothing else, it should stay. And when I need to get it off, I can do vice grips and the 12mm Allen on the other end to pry it loose.
Oh and the plastic wear ring looked fine, so I doubt that was my holeshot issue as I had thought. Maybe the combo of the loctited nose cone and SS wear ring will help me out tomorrow. I doubt it, but we will see.

throw the green solas nose cone away!!! nothing i have ever done will keep it in place. switch to the stock rubber one with some black silicone on the threads and you will never have another problem.

Mine is gone. Think it was eaten by a pack of vicious creek rocks

I have nearly 30 hours on my SS wear ring with no issues whatsoever.
$300 well spent!

Another option would be to send your pump to skat trak. They replace the pump shaft and install two bearings. A stainless steel liner is installed in place of the stock plastic liner, then final machining of the liner is done after it is in the pump to make sure the liner is perfectly round. Finally, the modify the pump cone to accept gear oil in lieu of grease for better longevity. The cost is $480. They also have a mod available wherein they machine the stock venturi nozzle to accept reduction rings so you can fine tune the ski. Three rings are sent back with the venruri mod. The cost is $175. My pump assy is at Skat Trak now for both these mods. I'll post pics and performance gains when I get the parts back.

$655 - that sounds like a solid mod for those Stage II or lower (like me). Interested in seeing your pics and opinions about your investment.

If not does the prop just shave itself smooth against it?
Mark S What do they do to improve the cone for oil?
