Setting cam timing
Just wondering if i was correct in assuming that top dead center on 4 tecs is measured off the front cylinder. Then the cam itself can be turned toTDC and cam gear with chain can be installed? Not super familiar with doing the cam timing and i know it has to be dead on.

Underneath the intake manafold are a couple of bungs, under one of these bungs allows you to lock the crank with a tool or long drill bit, this brings #3 to top tdc the very front of the engine, once you have done this you can lock the cam, there is a hole at the end closest to the timing chain it can only lock the cam in one position,if you inspect the holes with a torch you will be able to see how they work.
