keeping tow vehicke out of the water.. longer trailer?
All,
I was curious do they make a trailer that has a LOOONG TONGUE BAR? I'm not sure of what the real name of the part of the trailer i'm talking about. it's the part of the trailer that the coupler is bolted to-which inturn connects to the trailer....The problem i have is that when i launch and recover my ski ..I like to have the trailer bunks submerged or close to it -Which means the rear of the tow vehicle usually ends up in the water.(this way the ski launches and recovers with little or no cranking(scratches up the bottom of the ski) I thought that if the "bar" was longer putting more space between my tow vehiche and the ski.. i can keep the rear of my truck out of the water.
is this possible? or am i launching and recovering wrong?

If it means anything to you the back of my pick up truck gets wet too. usually right when the muffler tip is in the water.

Thanks for the reply.
I was wondering if there was any way of that NOT Happaning.. I primarilly lauch in salt water... a few years of this and my TOW VEHICLE will be a pile of rust(i rinse the truck as my ski is being flushed). I'm getting a new CAR and have to hold onto this one as long as i can. That extend a hitch sounds like a great idea. How safe is it?
thanks again.

Triton Elite
Take a look at the Triton Elite trailer (WCI) http://tritontrailers.com/products/M...&info=features
I have the same issue as I launch primarily in salt water and a very shallow ramp... it has more than 2 extra feet of tongue length than most single trailers... It is even 10 inches longer than their double trailer.
Now when I'm launching my new Honda F-15X I don't even get the back tires of my MDX wet

Black,
Thanks for the reply.
I have heard of these trailers. and shorelander's too. I hear both are supposed to be superior trailers when compared to Load rite and all theless expensive ones.. round here everyone loves Loadrite because that what they all carry, So naturally no one knows any better.. I'm going to look into these more... I was hoping for something with more Tongue lenth.. but i guess some more is better than a salty rear end!

that extension thing is just what Ive been looking for, thanks, I was considering building a trailer where the tonque would extend, that extension would be an easier addition.
