mpem ?
Hello,
I had posted a ? a while ago about a rev limiter on a 95 gts coming on at half throttle. One of the members on here was nice enough to tell me how to test the mpem by disonnecting the red wire coming off the mpem and if the rev limit went away it wa probably a bad mpem. I tested it and it seemed to be bad. I replaced it with a new to me used one and I still have the problem. I guess it is possible that the new to me one is bad also but I am hoping that somebody may have another suggestion that I could try to stop the rev limiter from coming on at half throttle.
Thanks in advace,
Jeff

Assuming you have a good wearring....
The rev limits were set to close when the ski was made & after a little prop/wearring wear it would hit the revlimiter, the NEW mpems have a higher revlimiter.
You can do a couple differnt things..
Get a new MPEM
Buy a aftermarket revlimiter
Install a steeper pitched impeller or have yours repitched.

The pump impeller and wear ring are new (stock). Please forgive me for my ignorance but where is the rev limiter located? I assumed it was in the mpem.
Thanks

How would I install an aftermarket rev limiter? Is that the same as getting a new mpem. Can I put an aftermarket on one of the mpem's I already have?
Thanks

It plugs in the exsisting wires on the mpem. They stopped making them years ago so they are hard to find or go here....

Thanks for the advice. This will work with the mpem with the bad rev limiter in it. I guess it overides the one in the mpem.

If thats the case then maybe I have two good mpems here. I guess it is possible that the factory limit on both is just set to low. The ski runs about 30mph in th water and then the rev limiter kicks in. I will try an aftermarket limiter. Thanks a bunch for your help!
