Finishing Top End on SLT750, Need more info!
Hey guys, Im finishing up a top end job on an SLT 750. I cant find any info on how to reassemble the engine. I have the new pistons installed, and just cleaned all remaining gaskets off of contact points. Now heres the question: So I need a sealant of any type for the cylinder-to-block contact point and/or the cylinder-to-head contact? If I do, what kind is best to use?

No sealant needed for those parts.
Only case halves NEED it.

permatex products
I noticed the price of the permatex copper spray sealant
. I work for an auto parts warehouse and we are liquidating our inventory of permatex and Berryman stock, which includes just about everything we all use for engine assembly, solvents, additives, and sealant, if anybody is interested I can post some products and prices... shipping is free. For example, that copper spray gasket sealant goes for $3.86... shipped free ups ground.

dude, that would be great for $3, but I already got it from NAPA for about 6.95....ooooh well!
Question for you techies: After I had installed the new pistons per the polaris service manual, and locktite/torqued the cylinder, heads, and exhaust, I was throwing away most of the empty packaging when I noticed an warning/instruction sheet that said, and I quote, "Install cir-clips oriented upwards. Otherwise, severe engine damage could occur."
Hmmmm, the service manual said NOTHING about the orientation of the circlips on the sides of piston (holding the wrist pin in place). Do you guys think it would be a big deal if I had installed them as I have in a random sort of pattern? I did however make sure that the open end of the circlip was not facing the groove cut horizontally (i think the groove im speaking of is there to make pulling the circlip out a little easier).
Right now would be an excellent time to go back and fix this issue, if, of course, it is an issue at all. I really hope it is nothing to worry about, because as I said before, all bolts are torqued and locktite-ed!!
