i just bought and installed an R&D aquavein grate for my 07 rxp and was very happy with the results, boat stays hooked up much better. I had read that the riva grate might be a slight better on smooth water, but where i ride thats a non issue

thanks, some recent threads started where some say there is a slight cavitation issue on takeoff.
How does the stock grate do in chop? i haven't ridden mine yet so have no idea.

If you can hang on you will find out. It hooks up like you would not believe.
Almost too much. I can not say for the R and D.
The riva is definitely NOT
the grate to use in chop, but shines in good water.
I am going back to a stock version and see what happens. if not impressed then will try the R and D. The riva will be on the ski in the off months when trafic is low.Last edited by skoepp; 06-11-2008 at 09:16 PM.

so the stocker is good in chop.. and did you mean to say the riva is not that good in chop(just good water..glass?).. and the rd you dont know about..
so maybe i should just save my $ and stick with stock for river chop?

sorry, you replied before i could edit (correct my typo).
yes i meant the riva preforms well in lite chop to glass, but once you fill the hookup of stock in rough water, then if you ride in rough water the riva will not stay on your ski very long.
and yes i have no experience with R and D but is getting nice reivews for the most part from what i have read.Last edited by skoepp; 06-11-2008 at 09:30 PM.

The stocker has an ungoldy amount of hook up. You can literally feel it sucking the ski down, the rear of the ski vibrates at top speed. Ski wants to come out of the water and the grate instantly pulls it back down, this happens really fast and creates the vibrating feel.
go WOT in rough water and then let out quick and you better hold on because the ski slows down with authority because of the intake grate.

I appologize as i just noticed that you were talking about a 215 rxp. oops. i need to read better. Disregard all the info on chop with stock grate as i was talking about the x skis.
I myself want to try the R and D on my rxp to see if i can get better hookup this time of year when trafic and wind is bad and making the rxp not stay hooked with riva.

What Rxp are you referring to the RXP or RXP-X

RXP.
sounds like the RD grate will help with chop but it's going to need some trimming. On my oldskool GP we used to cut the wings off the protec to get both chop and speed.
