Drive Shaft Seal Help
Hi Everybody,
It looks like I have suffered a drive shaft seal failure (03 GTX-SC). I was wondering if anybody has some words of wisdom for the repair, parts, possible cause & future prevention etc.
Cheers

Floating Ring
Does any body have any ideas why the floating ring is on the drive shaft??
As I see it the only function of the ring is that if the pump falls off the ring probably will stop the shaft following, thus hopfully retaining a water tite seal. This is unlikey to happen as the carbon ring will probably smash into bits when the ring hits it.
Cheers

It ring is what rides against the carbon seal, creating the "seal" between the water and the inside of the hull.
We have had engine mounts break like that, one of mine actually ripped out of the fiberglass..

Sweet, thanks for the insight. I am considering upgrading to the rotax racing rear mounts to hopefully prevent this happening again.
