Warranty, 10 hour valve adjustment
Hey guys. Dealer recommends my new 08 250 x back after 10 hrs. to do a $ 300 valve adjustment, bolt tightening, etc. Is all this really necessary? Ski is running just fine and if I see a leaking hose or a lose part I can tighten that myself. I was told that you don't have to adjust the valves to keep your warranty in effect. Also is a 4 year warranty a good idea. Most probably will only put 20 hrs a year on the ski. Also will have it garage kept. Flush with salt away after every use. Kevan

Ask your Dealer to provide a letter, article, or tech bulliten that says a $300 valve adjustment is reqiured.
You do not need no valve adjustment.
No where can I find that info.

He must mean to say first 10 Hour service to tighten hoses, change oil, plugs, check stuff etc. Which dealer is this? Did you understand them right? Valve adjustment is recommend at 100 hrs? I think.
oh, just realized its you kevan. (we met at sheppards last sunday).
I think the 10 hour service is a good idea for warranty purpose, but I bought my own plugs for cheaper on sparkplug.com and they charged $200 I think? Lots of money, but it is a recommended service in the manual, and will document that you obeyed their warranty recommendation incase of future problem.
Many clamps and hoses become loose after the first ride or even from the factory so everything should be checked. I checked mine after the dealer and they were still loose though.Last edited by Red08Ultra250; 06-04-2008 at 05:19 PM.

I would get the 4 year extended warranty, a rebuild on the engine is rather expensive, you just never know...........

valve adjustment is 100 hours
I'm coming up on 100 hours. I only took the Ultra into Riva for
the warranty work. I've changed the oil about 4 times. Mine doesn't
burn a drop, nor does it increase in volume. My nose can't detect
the gas smell even it was there!
So I'm wondering about the valve check at 100 hours, doesn't seem
much else of significance, just supercharger oil, belt tension, etc.
Anyone done a 100 hour checkup at dealer? Cost? What did they
find??

I had it done at 97 hours , all the valves were with in specs, I guess they couldnt tell I was about to stick a ring though,
, I dont know the cost as my dealer offers a care plan on their units they sell (Ill ask then tomorrow), at a 30% discount(prepaided) for the first 125 hours of recommended services on PWCs, I think that also helps on warranty claims.............
......to have all your services documented.....................

Thanks to all
Talked to the service manager and he talked a different story than the newbie who walked me through the initial buy of the ultra 250 X. You guys who responed to my post armed me with knowledge to confront the service manager about what I was initailly told by the newbie. Price came down. Imagine that!!! Kevan
