Home made seat cover?
Has any one ever just bought some synthetic type fabric material and cut and recovered their seat. I want to re-do mine, however after painting I can't see spending over $100 for anything else that wont make me go faster.

If you're talented with sewing and upholstery, it might work. You could try taping duct tape over one half of the seat and drawing each panel out, then pulling the duct tape off and cutting it into each panel, then making patterns from the cut pieces.
You WILL need a heavy-duty sewing (upholstery) machine though to sew through the vinyl.

You can stitch it with one of the better home sewing machines, just don't use hella-thick material, use brand new SHARP (not ball-end) needles, change needles often, and stitch very slowly. Start out hand-cranking it and then and increase speed VERY gradually.

I can't see skimping on seat material when your butt is going to be on it all the time. Spend the $150 and buy something that fits and is proven to last.

a few guys bought marine upholstery and did their own! and it looked awsome but it did not require sewing , so it really depends on the seat shape
