help converting 92 650 to 780 !!!!!
iam in the process of trying to convert my 92 sl650 to 780!!! i already got the cylinders and exhaust manifold and the cdi!!! what iam wondering is do i have to change the elec to run the 780 or can i run the 650 and change to 780 elec later????? also what all would i have to change electrical to go to the 780 i got the cdi!!!!! and can any one help with jetting or get me close?????? ill be adding .75mm 780 cylinders and aftermarket water box not sure about which elec yet (650 or 780)!!!!!!

You'll have to change over to the 750/780 stator and flywheel if I remember right.

The 92 650 has 24* timing and the 780 has 28*.
You can either leave the 650 elec system intact, or you'll need to exchange the elec stator to make the 780 CDI work.
I say leave the existing elec box alone and see how the 780 does.
As for the jetting, what FA are you using? What impeller?

The 92 also had a different hull. the pump inlet was a couple inches shorter. they lengthened it out in 93. made a big diff in the take-off, lots less cavitation.

i was sort of hoping i could run the 650 electrical and then maybe switching it over later when i got more cash!!!!! and maybe getting some better reeds and sending my heads off to get them worked !!!! as for the FA is that the pipe??? ill probably be running the 92 650 dry pipe with the aftermarket water box i got from xlint!!!! or i thank there is a psi pipe on ebay what do youll thank about it????? which is better and how much diff between them
