gpr modding question
I want to install some mods on my ski (05 gpr) tomorrow, but have a question for you guys. Is it safe to run a power filter and a dplate without an efi controller?

yes it is safe. you only need to run a efi when you advance the timing or when ur ski is heavily modded. if you find a efi used get it! you will rarely come across a used one that works. also if you plan on milling your head for higher compression you will need to put 93 octane gas in your ski.

Believe me, I've been looking for a used efi controller. I'm planning on getting some heads later down the road also. I just got a bit worried because when I was reading the instructions for the dplate, it said to use an efi controller. I didn't think I would need it yet, just wasn't sure. Thanks for the reply!

You dont need one for d-plate. You need one for the race filter, so not sure about the power filter. I'd wait for a few more responses, since it would be bad if you leaned it out

Thanks for the input guys! Definitely don't want to blow up the motor. Since it's safe to run those mods, I'll go ahead and install them.

The race filter replaces the factory air box that your filter mounts to.

I'd consider getting the EFI, I opted for R&D's Powershot, easier to program than the Riva. When I took the cat and placed the d-plate the ski bogged really bad. I have an 05 also.
The Powershot took care of the bogging, but now my prop needs to be changed because of the extra power, I'll be putting a Skat Trak repitched from Impros. Oh, btw, I run mine more for CC comp. Decide what direction to go with your ski, i.e. closed course, recreational, top speed drag, and find the specific mods from the gurus here.
Also, Jerry sells the Powershot, just make sure to do the GREENHULK code and you'll get the best price around.
