Polaris Freedom won't start.
Bought a pair of these and took them out and they ran fine. Took them out again over the weekend and they both started right up. One of them then died and would not restart.
I'll start by saying I'm not really good at mechanical things.
Took them home and starting doing a little research and found this great site. Searched a bunch of threads and here I am. It is an 04 Polaris Freedom 700. It just clicks at the solenoid when you try to start. Tested the battery and its is good. Tested the solenoid and it was good. Bridged the solenoid and the starter did nothing. ran 12v to starter-nothing.Thought for sure that was it, bought a new one and tried again. Still clicks from the solenoid.
I've swapped battery and solenoid from the good ski- nothing. Battery has good voltage before and during starting. I tested the solenoid voltage on the good ski while starting and it goes to 0. On the other it jumps from 2-5v. Not sure if it means anything but thought I'd add that.
Any help would be great. Trying to keep from sending it to the shop for a few weeks.

Welcome to the Hulk!
Check the ground wire from the battery to the engine block.
Look for corrosion at both ends. Check with an ohm-meter for a solid zero ohms between battery negative and bare metal on the engine.

The ground is good, no corrosion. I'm getting 3 ohms from battery to block.

pull the plugs out and see if you can turn the motor over by hand...

3 ohms is WAY too much resistance.
Should be zero ohms, as near as your meter can tell, between the battery negative and the engine block.
With no paint or corrosion under the meter probes, you need zero ohms, or awfully close to zero.
You may need to loosen the ground bolt on the engine, clean up any corrosion underneath and/or on the bolt (use a new SS bolt if you can), tighten it back up, then smear some waterproof grease on it.
Either that, or the battery negative cable is bad inside, or at the end(s).

Thanks for the input. Took it all loose and wire brushed everything. Got it to 0 ohms. Fired right up. I'm so glad I found this site. A lot of very helpful and informative people. Thanks again.
