speed problems!
Ok so i have a 2001 GP1200R, and i stepped my sponsons to correct my propoising problems, and now i can only hit 61mph. Before i was hitting 68-70 mph. I have a solas 13/19 impeller, riva ride plat, intake grate, and performace pump cone. What if i put my sponsons back to the way it was, and put washers under trim tabs instead. I need that speed back, so some tips would be much appreciated

something has to be seriously wrong with your ski no one loses that much top-end by stepping sponsons..with an angled plate you would actually gain speed in some cases...get us some rpm readings..

Sounds like your using your dreamometer. Like above give us some rpm readings along with some speeds on GPS.
Damn jim, I type to slow.Last edited by krispaintballz; 05-29-2008 at 08:48 PM.

could it be that every other time when i hit 68 or 70, i am using sunoco 94 octane?. today i used shell 93. I could just tell that the throttle was definatly not responsive like when i use sunoco 94. what if i go half way with the sponsons? put them back just enough to where it wont porpoise

Stepping sponsons SHOULD only drop you about 1/2 an MPH... you're definately using the stock dream-o-meter speedo.
And for a stock engine, there's not really much a performance gain from using anything more than 87-octane gas.

Something else, I see higher Dream-O-Meter speeds with a Riva/R&D Plate than I see with an OEM plate as well.
