Budget 71 mph ultra 250X
ok this should get you to 71 or very close on low fuel. Most of these ideas have came from forum members over the past year or I have tested and know the results. Your riding style may not allow some or any of these and do so at your own risk. Others may have some other tips to add.
remove the pump and clean all the excess silicone from the tunnel
cut the center bar from the pump intake/grate and reseal
remove the cover under the glove box or get the r&D flat filter
remove the hoses from the stock intake and remove the hoses from the bypass and the relief valves. Let the stock intake breath from the two hose connections under the glove box cover. You decide how you want to deal with possible water ingestion. I use the filters from the cool air kit mounted on the hose connections on the intake. The more I think about it I think I will remove them and just let them suck air directly.
07s get the r-rated secondary waterbox removal kit or get a 2.25 mandrel u-bend to replace the secondary waterbox.
remove or shorten all hull intake hoses.
riva plate properly adjusted and 2 degree wedge. If you do this correctly there is a lot of speed here. Get the plate above the shoe in everyplace where it forms a step and get the rear above the hull line. Or as I said in another post send your riva plate to Jim's Performance and get him to modify it. Your choice. Jims plate provides very similar handling to stock with the speed of Riva plate. The plate will provide the most speed increase for the money out there.
Relief valve problem removal-this has to be addressed. I preferred to block it. I made one block off and used r-rated for the other
Octane-use good name brand gas and use 93 to 91 octane only
Total cost minimum
$229 riva plate
$29 wedge
$25 u-bend
$10 bov block off
Do this and I think you will be very surprised. Of course results will vary and weather has a huge role in performance.Last edited by spaulding; 05-29-2008 at 03:43 PM.

Good work JW, I am getting 70.2 without the plate but the rest is in, can you expand on "remove or shorten all hull intake hoses." thanks,
David.

relief valve hose question
I blocked off my BOV with R&D, took plug from under glove box out,
and Riva Plate with 2degree wedge. Running good.
I'm trying to find the K&N filter for the vacuum relief valve, 1.5" ID or
40mm. Any ideas where? My local Advance has just about no stock.
Would you get the conical or round one? Probably no difference right?
What about blocking off the intake on the Airbox where the relief valve
goes? Should I? with what? I got that block off stopper from R&D when
I got their BOV block off plate and it's on there now.
BTW - I'm using a graco look alike strainer in front of Intercooler intake.
very handy for when we get into muck........highly recommended for anyone
out there.

Tom
I don't have a filter on that valve. Other than looks it serves no purpose. Maybe r-rated has the filter you are looking for. The stock air intake where the hose connects I have open to atmosphere. If you are worried about getting water in, either buy the cool air kit and use those filters or take a short piece of the stock hose, cut it and just angle it down and away from the flat filter area.
