That makes it a Virage TXi
I have a pair of them!
Newbie is OK, as long as you are willing to search, read, and learn!
Spark plug in the middle of each head = carburetor engine
Injector in the middle of each head = Ficht fuel injected engine
The Ficht system is fixed to the specific motor size it came with. You cannot change the cylinder size, or even the breathing of the engine, without getting into murky waters.
Either you replace your injected 1165cc engine with another one of the exact same configuration, or you change the entire electrical and fuel system to what the carb'ed models used. Different wire harness, different fuel pump, different electrical stator, different CDI instead of EMM, and so on. Quite a lot of work.
That said, I suspect that you can use the core engine from a carb'ed 1200, and just install the injection cylinder heads and stator from your damaged motor. You would need to verify that the cylinders had the same Polaris part numbers, for example (same porting).Last edited by K447; 05-28-2008 at 01:48 PM.
