SC with swirls inside
Check out the swirls inside my SC. This is my 1st time seeing this. Salt water ride this past weekend & I felt the ski get weaker towards the end of the day.
Check out the CR, I've posted picks before & it is off alignment for sure. So, is this a matter of just loosening the mounts & adjusting the motor & is it more critical that I need a tool instead of eyeballing? Possible excessive shaft wear & needs replaced? I'll need a new CR I know. But, the greasy swirl that I'm assuming is salt, how did it get in there? New kanoflex hose & no holes, up front/top intake.
Maybe a bad seal at the adapter from the hose to the sc? The film is thick & greasy. You can see that the bottom of the SC is plastered with salt too.
That water in the bottom of the hull is from the hose, I had salt sprayed everywhere so I gave it a squirt.
I've got to get this thing in shape for the Bug & the LB2Cat race!Last edited by ou812; 05-26-2008 at 11:40 AM.

Drive shaft alignment:
The only way to check and adjust accurately is to use the 'drive shaft alignment tool' It may look off center but unless you are seeing premature wear (carbon dust on the hull) or leaking from the CR then you are probably just fine and could wait until 100+ hours to replace the CR.
SC:
The SC swirls look to me like salt water getting into the SC from somewhere and should be fixed asap. A little oil in there is normal but the salt swirls are not. You have a leak somewhere.
Get some 'Salt-Away' and clean all that salt up and spray everything with seadoo lube!

I recently had my sc off to have metals fitted. Mine had these swirles inside as wel. i think it is normal it jus the way the air flows out at high speed. The gray stuff is prob a bit of alloy dust from minor touch down inside the sc and moisture from intake air mixing. Normal to have a small amount of touch down from what i have read on here. Touch down is when the sc wheel rubs the housing due to all the stresses the sc goes through. I dont feel you have anything to worry about, but others may have some more input, there are a few people on here that have seen everthing. Hope this helps R8

Thanx for the input guys.
CR: It has been that way since I bought it. I have 126 hrs on it so it's time to replace it & I might as well check the alignment too.
SC: No touch down marks on the housing. The white swirls has to be salt because the sc side housing had a coat of salt residue on it..
I use salt terminator & Doo lube after every ride, but every ride in the ocean ends up looking like this so you know i'm going through a lot of chemicals.

Check out the engine alignment thread in the how-to section.
Either your pump shoe or engine are out of wack and may be costing you some speed.
