2001 Virage 700 - topend apart now
As I posted earlier, the intake grate got plugged with weeds and the motor overheated and I am now rebuilding the topend. New pistons and one new cylinder. I noticed the the top inch of the front connecting rod is kinda bronze coloured from the heat, not sure if this is a problem. Sure hope I don't have to change it. Please help me out.

How does the rod feel on it?I've seen alot that look bronze in color with not problems.I wondered if heat treating makes some that way from the factory.

The front rod is bronzed on the inside where the top bearing goes and the other one is silver. Talked to a mechanic friend and he said it should be okay. He said it is more of a concern if it was blue or black. Hopefully get my parts in the next couple days.
