riva efi??(SOLVED)
I have a riva efi controller fitted to my ski but it seems to be stopping the ski from starting. when i disconnect it and leave the ski for 10mins it starts but there is alot of white smoke?? i have read alot of threads about this controller and was wondering which settings would be best to set this at or can i just disconnect it? I have an r&d power plenium air filter. Would it do any harm to run the ski without the efi connected as i have been told i could blow the engine?

Hi Bruce, is your only mod the power plenum?? is so you dont need the efi controler till you do more mods in my opinion. i read on here once i think it was posted by (WFO) Richard that he either knew of a ski or modded a ski not sure that had VF3'S and no controler, still had no affect on the engine in any adverse ways... theres alot of information on the forum

With the air filter it is a good idea to use the controller. But you wont need the higher amount of fuel you would need for say higher compression or porting.
Start off with a 3.4.1.7. Rivas recommended starting setting of 6.6.1.9 is to high for almost anything. you'll be drowning with fuel and the ski will just bog.
Most of the skis that are just stage 1 use the 3. 3(maybe 4) 1.7 setting
With the higher compression and VF3 reeds, 4.5 or 5. 5 or 6. 2.7
Alittle higher for the ported skis.
All of the pots set to 1 on the controller are the same as the factory settings.
You can always adjust the pots up/down 1 to find whats best for your ski throughout the entire powerband without any bogs or hiccups.Last edited by KamikazeGPR; 05-25-2008 at 08:42 AM.

I'm not sure how familiar you are with the controller. So just a heads up.
When looking at the controller to set the pots. The lights will be to the right of the pots to be in the true clock position. The 3 etched in #'s on the pots dont mean anything.
It is set up like clock #'s without the 12 at the top. Only 1 thru 11. It wont allow you to go to a 12 position.
I attached R&D's instructions. They're much better than riva's. They're the same controller made by techlusion for both.

Does it start w/out the efi?
Check the ground. Does the yellow light come on when you bump the starter?
I don't think you need it w/ FA and D only.
