    That's because distance is irrelavant. When I lived in glendora and had to visit our office in elsegundo, it took me anywhere from 1.5 - 3 hours to drive there, during rush hour times. It was only 45 miles, all freeway.

    Yeah I have family in LA and it used to drive me up the wall when I would try to get the distance in miles and they would give me distance in time. Now that I am older and have driven in LA numerous times I can see why they do that. I am willing to bet that 11 avoids the two main freeways around him the 405 and the 10 and instead uses the side streets. Or justs avoids them completely at certain times.
