01 GP1200R wont start
I just bought a 2001 GP1200R thats pretty much stock with the exception of the D-plate and chip. When I got it home and took it out on the lake it was hesitant to get up and go when I opened it up from idling. Besides that it was running fine. Then my buddy and I stopped in a cove and when i was idling around it cut off on me and I never could get it started back. Still wont start. I put a little bit of gas into each cylinder and tried it. It fires but wont run. Anybody have any ideas?
thanks

Hi,welcome to the forum, the best place for all your info!If you have just bought it,i would suggest a compression test,if all 3 cylinders are ok,put a new set of plugs in and try it.you could also try turning the fuel knob onto reserve and running it,if it still dont run,i would think it might be a good idea to check your carbs, they might need cleaning.

^ welcome to the forum.I would check what was listed above
and maybe check the fuel filter.Someone will chime in that knows
a little more about them and what to check next.

I dont exactly know. I put new plugs and fuel filter in. The compression was good. I did put a primer bulb in the fuel line to help get it gas to start and after a squeeze or two it fired up.
Just another question for my curiosity. If the motor is idling so low its barely running would that not create enough vacuum to pull the gas through the fuel line? It was idling very low before it wouldnt start and once it started i adjusted it up a little bit. Dont know if that changes anything but i figured it couldnt hurt
Thanks.
