1994 Polaris Boggs out
We purchased over a year ago a 1994 Polaris. We could not get it to run would start with the choke pulled and run at an idle. Once you release the choke no throttle and the ski would bog down and then turn off. We had the marine mechanic at sandpoint marina look at it he tried adjusting the carbs, did not work. This year we adjusted the carbs and put new reeds in it and it works great on land, fires right up you can give it throttle no problems. No choking it....Mothers day we had our fingers crossed and launched......would not fire had to pull the choke to fire and , no throttle bogs down and then shuts off. Same problem...please help me I would love to get this running great.

Hi jk, WELCOME to the Green Hulk Forums!!
Pull the carbs and get them cleaned up, I'm thinking you are waaaayyy lean.
Check compression and if it's O.K. read through the posts about the 750 and start performing some updates before it's too late.

Thanks for the information....The 750 post would that be the one from cubsfan2516?
I believe the carbs are set to the factory specs, 11/4 turns?. I know we set it at what the factory setting are as per the service manual. I do not know what that is because I am at work. Should it be something different then what they state?
I would just hate to junk this pwc because it seems like it would be great to ride. Our Yamaha runs great and we bought them as a pair.

the high spped screws are...mag 1 1/4.....ctr 3/8.....pto 7/8
the low speed screw on all 3 carbs is 1/2
but as ph2ocraft said. its best to take out the carbs and give them a thorough cleaning

Thank you so much, I wish I could understand what the letters stand for, but I am sure my husband will. I am learning along the way.

You want to make sure you read the threads about the trippple outlet fuel pump, fuel valves and fuel line replacement-all lean running culprits.
Be sure to check for water in the fuel, bad fuel filler necks etc.

Welcome to the Hulk JK.
There are a few things to do in order to keep your ski reliable. Update the fuel pump, replace all the fuel hoses, inspect/clean the fuel shut off valve, and definately remove and open up the carbs to inspect them thoroughly. There's prob 14 yrs of dirt and build up inside them which impededs fuel flow. A lack of fuel will spell the end of these machines.
