95 Xp & 94 Spi
Hello,
I just
Recently purchased a 1995 XP & 1994 SPI, my questions are, I was told by the service people who winterized my skis that I needed new motor mounts in the SPI (said it was going to $800) is that about the correct price to have these $22 parts installed, or are they trying to screw me?
Also the XP runs, compression is about 135 on each cylinder, but they said the engine races, and I should replace the motor. Just wonder what the experts think on this.
Should I try to get these ski back to top shape, or cut my loses and try to sell them for a newer ski? I thank all who have any feed back on these questions.

if you are mechanically inclined in the least, changing the motor mounts can be done in less than an hour. very easy to do. $800 is way out of line. the engine racing is a different story. compression sounds good. sounds like you might have an air leak somewhere causing the ski to run a bit lean. depending on where the leak is will determine the cost to fix.

Thanks for the info. They said that the crankshaft was pulling in air. Glad to hear the motor mounts should be something I should be able to do on my own so with wife doesnt bitch at spending more money on the toys!

not sure i would trust them if they are wanting to charge you $800 for replacing the motor mounts.
