951 case repair
I had a piston come apart and this is all the damage that was caused to the cases. I was wondering if I can still use them, as long as I smooth the area out, without a problem or will I need a new upper case, and if I need a new case is there any way this can be repaired or is the cast material not able to be welded?

You can TIG weld the cases with no worries, the top and bottom cases are matched at factory i.e. machined together, you could have big problems just bolting a different top/bottom half together. Depending how thin the wall is where the damage is you might be able to just dress it up.

if the cases are cracked just file the rough edge's, then use a healthy amount of 1211 bond and slap her together. dont forget the 30ml of 30 wt oil for the counter balancer shaft. You can't just replace half a case. mated / line bored. If crack yes tig the crack, file the weld down, test fit the crank & bolt down with out 1211 bond and rotate the crank, if it spins freely then re-assembly with 1211 bond. otherwise re-file the weld until it spins freely.

Thanks, that's the only thing that is damaged is the intake runner (what I call it). I wouldn't think that it would make a defference since there is so little missing and it has no moving parts and also there is really no stress on that area at all.
