No spark-1995 spx
I recently aquired a 1995 spx with 657x motor. It has been sitting for a few years, but the price was right (free) and I thought it would be a good project to teach my son a few things. Last weekend we cleaned out inside of hull, removed and cleaned fuel tank, replaced all fuel and cooling lines, and bought and charged new battery. The electronics box was open, so I removed and cleaned all wiring and and put back in. Engine cranks but no spark at either plug. Used ohmeter as stated in repair manual to check coil and mpem. When checking the readings on the mpem, i got nothing on the tan/black wire. I would hate to spend the money on a new unit if I am not sure this is the problem. Any suggestions?
Also, are there any kits that are available to bypass the mpem?

I don't know of any trick or tips on that particular wire and problem, but if it is the mpem it cannot be bypassed.

I went through an issue with my electrical recently on my 96 XP800. I replaced all my electronics only to find out my stator was the real problem. I suggest trying the stator testing proceedure in the service manual before considering new electronics.
