Took on water, started once and not again
Here is the scenario. I am buying a pair of XP's and one doesnt start. The guy said it took on some water from the rear hole where a flap hangs but the flap was dry rotted or something and took on water while sitting. He said he drained the ski and started it without any problems BUT went out 2 days later to start it and it only clicked.
What am i looking at besides a motor seized? It is NOT the battery he says.

Look for water in the rear black box. Pull the top off.

The guy who I am buying them from says he pulled the plugs out and it wont turn freely like the other ski does. I guess the motor is F-ed..?
Would i need to buy a new one or can I just rebuild it? Bottom or top or both ends? I have the service manual but unsure of where to go from here since I am a Volvo tech and dont mess with 2 strokes.

What year/model?
It could be as simple as surface rust. It might pop loose after adding PB Blaster into the plug holes and bumping the starter....or a rock stuck in the pump. -I bought a "non-running" ski that cost me a used prop and a new wear-ring to ride.
If you can bring a strong battery and compression tester to look at them.

^ 1996 seadoo xp
I am really hoping it is surface rust and I too thought of spraying an assload of PB blaster into the plug holes and trying to break it loose. I guess we'll see since I pick them up on Saturday.
The other one's trim doesnt work... which i need some direction as to look towards if you guys can supply me links.
I appreciate all your help so far.

Hopefully just some water and rust on the rings try the PB blaster plugs out and see if you can turn the motor back and forth. I am not sure if you can reach in and grab the driveshaft wiggle it back and forth see if you can get it to turn. It isnt to hard to pull a head off and look either. On the trim I checked for a clicking sound to know the selenoid was working then a test light to check for voltage at motor wires. Pulled mine apart it was a broken wire inside the housing fixed it right up.
