Where is the intercooler ??
I'm thinking of puttin a grooco strainer on my intercooler, is it a good idea ,does it also filter the closed coolin of the motor? and if it doesnt should I put something on that? oh and where is the i/c?

it's a good idea as a preventative measure. your cooler will most likely last longer with the strainer if you don't regularly clean it. the intercooler is located in the intake manifold. it is in your closed loop circuit so it will obviously filter the closed loop cooling of the motor.

The closed-loop cooling is completely separate from the water going through the intercooler, which is being sucked up from the lake/ocean. The closed-loop system is like an auto, where is has a certain amount of coolant (water/antifreeze) that is pumped in a circuit from the engine to the radiator (rideplate) and back. Absolutely no reason to filter that system.
The intercooler system is taking in water from the outside, but that also includes all the dirt, sand, small debris, weeds, etc. that water contains. Before I had an external IC, I had to remove and clean my stock IC because of sand injestion, which is a crappy job, so for $45, I don't see why everyone isn't using a strainer, no matter what their IC setup is.

Very good point VX1, and that is exactly why i ordered one for my external intercooler set-up...to make it better for long term by at least removing the weeds, sands, and other debris from the intercooler.

my apologies for the misinformation on the closed loop straining. i must've been thinking of my open loop (i have a strainer on both circuits).
