pump&dr. shaft prob.
i have a 04 rxp i had gone threw 5 wear rings with st impeller& also with
solas imp. so i went with skat trak mod pump. still had imp spin out of the
hole.after racing the weekend at wildwood i took the pump aprt agn.
the imp cone had slide up 2 in it had striped out of imp. replaced it &
ran it this wkend.was running on flat water at abt 8200 rpm & ski stoped
like i hed just sucked in smthng. it turned out 2 b nthn. started out agn
and did same thing.went home & took the pump off cone had moved again
but this time the splines on both the dr. shaft & imp were stripped out.
half in. on both shaft & imp any 1 know how far dr. shaft should go in 2imp. & what would cause this?

The only thing I can think of is that you might have not had the impeller on the splines properly from the start. You thought you were torquing down the nuts properly, but with the splines not lined up, you never got the pump truly tight.
Apply engine torque and you have the splines stripping........

The splines were lined up properly. could it be the front motor mount?
although when I try to grab the motor and move it by hand there is very little play no more than what u would expect. have a new drive shaft &
seals on the way but i hate to go through all this again with out finding the
problem First!
