My New Scat 3 Bearing Mod is Toast!!
Went to put in my new prop and this is what I found.
What has Scat done for those that this has happened to?
I was going to sand the area down and run it, anyone see why I shouldn't?

The wear ring is fine, but the pump needs repairing.
Did it get water in it?

jerry... since the rubbing seems isoloated, do you think this could be an indication of the flexing motor mount causing the entire driveline to flex? i find it hard to believe a 3 bearing design would leave any room for deflection, unless of course it was machined a little "off" or 1 or more of the bearings failed... but i feel like if the pump was damaged the impeller shaft would be deflecting 360 degrees rather than in just one spot... i don't know, i'll tell ya that, just speculating

No water it looked fine.
I sanded it down and got the rough spots off of it and reassembled it.
It seems to be Ok, it was rubbing until I torqued it down.
I am with Shibbs do you think the mount could be that bad?

lets say the 4 mounting bolts for the pump are at 2 o'clock, 5, 8, and 11.... where is that rubbing mostly occurring, near which pump mount?
i feel like if the pump was messed up, it would get destoryed internally and shear bearings and rub all around, not just in one spot... that would just be repetitive rubbing from the holeshot and the motor doing a little dance when u nail it WOT from a standstill.... i see what jerry means now about the mount tho... now that my engine is out, that front mount is real flexible and squishy!... the rear ones are just as flexible, but at least u got 2 mounts back there to keep it locked in... front of the motor definitely needs more support with all this HP and torque we're installing

The front mount wouldn't hurt thats for sure.
Bear in mind with a bad pump bearing(s) the wear ring will still wear in one area, not all the way around. This is because of the way the shaft torques over while under a load.

David, with the impeller tightened down on the shaft is there any back and forth play?

Jerry not that I can tell.
The most of the rub is @ 4:00
There is a very slight tick when spinning the impeller with it in and the cone on it.

Looking at the 3 blade it seems to have rubbed all around the outside of the blades could it have been flexing that much?

it could very well be blade flex.
