    what alignment tool? what is it needed for?

    well sh**...

    when i removed the engine i left the driveline intact and in place.

    I winched up on the motor, slid it towards the front of the ski to make the driveshaft splines slide out, then picked it up and out.

    how much money did i cost myself, and what did i break.

    Damn BB, that's got to be one of the cleanest 780 engine compartments I've ever seen.

    Hopefully the thru hull fitting or seal or driveline didn't get damaged.
    Remove the pump (very simple procedure), it will make life so much easier to install the engine. Once the parts are out I'd check the items listed above just to make sure they are O.K.
