Agree I'v been looking for info on this, I have a few Q.

Whats the HOT coil setting do? I understand its for aftermarket coils but does it mean you no longer have to use leads of a given resistance.

Did you buy the caps and lead seperate and make it yourself or did you just modify cut and redo a set that was made for a V6?

If you were to make them yourself do you use resistive or non resistive wire?

another MSD wire install, part number 31039

installed new MSD 8.5mm wires. With this kit you need to trim each wire to length and "re-use" the OEM existing stainless coil terminal ends.
Gently pry open the coil terminals and reshape the terminal as if new. With the wire kit you get the terminal crimping block to properly secure the terminal end to the new ignition wire.
I chose to remove one wire at a time, mark the length adding 1" to the number 1 & 2 wire and adding 1/2" to the number 3 wire bc they were a bit tight from the factory.
All the OEM rubber grommets, plastic retaining caps, and coil boots get reused and need to be installed prior to crimping the terminal end on. I found it easier to let the rubber seals/grommet soak in HOT water until ready to use. I used a tapered step drill to enlarge the hole in the plastic retaining cap since the wire is thicker and need to have the grommet shoulder centered in the cap just right.
Applied dielectric grease and slid the wires into place making sure the coil terminals fit snug and locked into the ignition coils, then slid the boot onto the coil, Done!

MSD recommends that you measure the the wire resistance in "OHMS" by length. 40-50 ohms per foot.

Pale(or anyone else), I just removed my #3 wire because I was having some issues and thought it might have been a bad wire(was hoping that was it!)...doesn't look like problem....I put an ohmeter on each end of the wire and wiggled it all around hoping to see the ohms cut out or give me an "OL"...didn't happen but my question is, I had a reading of 5.55 ohms, this seems to be much lower than your recommended 49ish number, any thoughts?

These are the results using 2 separate meters to ensure accuracy average.
    Wire #1 - 25 1/2" = 88.3 - 89.1
    Wire #2 - 19 1/2" = 67.0 - 67.8
    Wire #3 - 14 1/2" = 49.4 - 49.5
