What sandpaper should i use on ride plate?

I will be filling my ride plate holes this week. I have the epoxy, but what grit sandpaper should i use to sand the holes after it hardens?

use whatever you got to sand the excess epoxy so it is flush with the rest of the plate.
start witha heavier grit to get most of it off, then use a finer grit to smooth out the final surface.
use a sanding block, or electric sander
