Does the 06 RXT have a working compass?
Greetings all, Im a proud owner of a new 06 RXT. Its been about 12yrs since my last SeaDoo and I can't believe the difference in power. One thing though seems to remain the same and thats the crappy owners manual you get with the unit, its not very informative and not very precise with the one model. As soon as I started going thru it the memorys of the manual I received 12yrs ago started to surface. Ok get to the point. I see on the instrument cluster a compass star but when the craft is operating its blacked out. I at first thought this was just a feature that maybe the GTX Limited had so wasnt too concerned about it. After doing a little search to see about adding a compass I see that it is standard equipment on the RXT & RXP. It also says that it will display the compass direction in degrees and I don't see that niether. The compass isnt that important to me but with the money spent on the craft I want it to work. So my question is just to confirm that it does come with a compass correct? and also where does the compass degrees show up at?
Also has anyone added the optional depthfinder to the RXT? Does this require drilling thru the hull to add the sensor?
Thanks

I thought only the GTX Ltd got the Compass and other goodies...
I've had the depth gauge added...it's not a simple job... You have to splice into the loom firstly, the hull is the same. so fixing it is ok...and it bounces the signal through the hull..so no drilling.

Well according to SeaDoo's website:
http://www.seadoo.com/en-US/Watercra...T/Benefits.htm
it lists the following for the display:
Reports 18 key operating functions: Fuel
Level, Low Fuel Level, Low Oil Pressure,
Low Voltage, Hi Voltage, Tachometer,
Overheat, Hour Meter, Maintenance Info,
Speedometer, Compass, Compass direction
in degrees, Check Engine, Lake Temperature, Sensor Check, Key (battery protection), Key (wrong key), L-Key.

Hmmm..better ask one of the 06 guys then... you might find the computer is ready for the input...but it's not part of the spec..and it's a typo on the site.
A bit like when they described the hulls differently between the RXT and the GTX Ltd.. but in fact are the same..

yes indeedy, it come with a compass. you just have to take it in to have turned on. my came with the Kmh and the temp in C, but my compass was working. took it in to get the read out to Mph and F, I think they turn the compass off, have to take it back again to get them to turn on the compass.
But to answer your question the compass should be on and working...

ok great news, just one last question then. I see the compass star but here does it display the compass direction in degrees? Im kindof guessing it should be right above the "hours" area, right now after using the key it says Welcome aboard then it just says Sea Doo.

Then what do they mean when they say:
Reports 18 key operating functions: Fuel
Level, Low Fuel Level, Low Oil Pressure,
Low Voltage, Hi Voltage, Tachometer,
Overheat, Hour Meter, Maintenance Info,
Speedometer, Compass, Compass direction
in degrees, Check Engine, Lake Temperature, Sensor Check, Key (battery protection), Key (wrong key), L-Key.

the rxp should be the exact same as the rxt plus the addition of a VTS gauge on the instrument cluster.
